Throat Singing Workshop

Weekendworkshop met vrouwelijke keelzanger uit Mongolië!

Dit weekend onder begeleiding van Zolzaya, een vrouwelijke professionele keelzangeres uit Mongolië, en Rowan. Een unieke kans om de kunst van keelzang en boventoonzingen te ontdekken, begeleid door een ervaren artiest die bewijst dat vrouwen deze krachtig vocale kunst kunnen beheersen.

Altijd al nieuwsgierig geweest naar boventonen en keelzang? Tijdens deze bijzondere weekendworkshop leer je de technieken achter deze vocale kunsten in een ontspannen en inspirerende setting onder begeleiding van Zolzaya en Rowan. Zolzaya is een professionele Mongoolse muzikant, gespecialiseerd in Mongoolse keelzang, en laat zien dat vrouwen net zo goed deze krachtige kunst kunnen beheersen. We heten je van harte welkom om samen muziek te maken, te leren en te genieten van de rijke Mongoolse cultuur. Het programma in het kort

Op zaterdag verwelkomen we je om 13.00 uur met een kopje traditionele Mongoolse melkthee. Rond 14.00 uur start de eerste workshop, waarin je de basis van boventonen en keelzang ontdekt. Na een heerlijk Mongools diner volgt in de avond de tweede workshop. Daarna is er tijd om te ontspannen, muziek te maken of, bij goed weer, te genieten van een sfeervol kampvuur.

Zondagochtend beginnen we met een typisch Mongools ontbijt, gevolgd door een wandeling op het prachtige landgoed van onze buren, waar de derde workshop plaatsvindt (of binnen, bij slechter weer). Na de lunch sluiten we de middag af met een laatste workshop om alles wat je hebt geleerd samen te brengen en te verdiepen.

Who makes this possible?

Rowan Hartsuiker
Host @ Altai

At the age of 17, around 2006, Rowan fell under the spell of music from Mongolia. He soon travelled to Mongolia to further explore the country and culture. Since then, Mongolian music and traditions have become an integral part of his daily life. In 2014, he married Saran, and together they have been working on their dream ever since: sharing Mongolian culture and music in the Netherlands through their concept Altai.

Zolzaya
Guest musician from Mongolia

Zolzayaa is a talented Mongolian throat singer from Khovd, one of the few female professional throat singers in Mongolia. She works at the Drama Theatre in Ulaanbaatar and plays various traditional instruments, including the mouth harp, overtone flute, ikel, morin khuur and tovshuur. After graduating from the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture (SUIS), she worked to preserve the Mongolian throat singing tradition. She has taught over 400 children and continues to share her knowledge locally and online.

Saran Myagmarsuren
Host @ Altai

Saran grew up in rural Mongolia, surrounded by the country's traditions, rituals, and rich culture. After moving to the Netherlands in 2002, she continued to cherish her Mongolian roots. In 2014, she married Rowan, and together they are working on their shared dream: introducing Mongolian culture and hospitality to the Netherlands through their concept. Altai.
