On Friday night April 24th Altai presents a special concert with Batzorig Vaanchig in the beautiful New Church in Groningen. The impressive architecture and warm acoustics of this historic church provide the perfect setting for an evening of Mongolian music and stories.
Batzorig Vaanchig is one of Mongolia's most respected throat singers and morin khur players and known worldwide for his powerful, pure style. During this concert, he takes the audience into traditional Mongolian songs, throat singing and instrumental music from the nomadic culture of Central Asia.
Expect a deep and enchanting musical journey with khömii (throat singing), morin kuur (horse-headed violin), tovshuur (lute) and other traditional instruments — music that brings Mongolia's vast landscapes to life.
This concert is part of Batzorig Vaanchig's first solo tour of Europe, in which he presents his personal repertoire in a series of extraordinary locations.

At the age of 17, around 2006, Rowan fell under the spell of music from Mongolia. He soon travelled to Mongolia to further explore the country and culture. In 2014, he married Saran, and together they have been working on their dream ever since: sharing Mongolian culture and music in the Netherlands through their concept Altai.
