Throat Singing Workshop
Weekend workshop “Throat Singing & Overtones”
The perfect way to immerse yourself in the art of throat singing and overtone singing for 2 days in an inspiring workshop environment.

Have you always been curious about overtones and guttural singing? During this special weekend workshop, you will learn the techniques behind these vocal arts in a relaxed and inspiring setting. We would like to welcome you to make music together, learn and also enjoy the rich Mongolian culture.
On Saturday, we welcome you with a cup of traditional Mongolian milk tea at 1pm. The first workshop starts around 2 p.m., where you'll discover the basics of overtones and throat singing. After a delicious Mongolian dinner, the second workshop follows in the evening. Afterwards, there is time to relax, play music or, in good weather, enjoy an atmospheric campfire.
On Sunday morning, we start with a typical Mongolian breakfast, followed by a walk on our neighbor's beautiful estate, where the third workshop takes place (or inside, in case of worse weather). After lunch, we'll end the afternoon with a final workshop to bring together and deepen everything you've learned.
A weekend of music, culture and inspiration!
At the age of 17, around 2006, Rowan fell under the spell of music from Mongolia. He soon travelled to Mongolia to further explore the country and culture. Since then, Mongolian music and traditions have become an integral part of his daily life. In 2014, he married Saran, and together they have been working on their dream ever since: sharing Mongolian culture and music in the Netherlands through their concept Altai.
Saran grew up in rural Mongolia, surrounded by the country's traditions, rituals, and rich culture. After moving to the Netherlands in 2002, she continued to cherish her Mongolian roots. In 2014, she married Rowan, and together they are working on their shared dream: introducing Mongolian culture and hospitality to the Netherlands through their concept. Altai.
