Domog is a leading musical ensemble from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, known for their powerful and contemporary approach to traditional Mongolian music. The name Domog refers to ancient stories and legends passed down through music.
The group combines khöömii (throat singing) with instruments such as the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle), creating a modern and energetic sound. In 2013, Domog won the Grand Prix “Golden Orpheus” and was named Absolute World Champion at the World Championship of Folklore. For over 20 years, the group has performed internationally and is regarded as an important representative of Mongolian musical tradition.

With an international reputation and a strong artistic influence within the world of Mongolian throat singing, Domog is considered one of the leading ensembles of their generation. For more than two decades, they have inspired musicians both in Mongolia and abroad with their distinctive style and compositions.
Their 20th anniversary European tour marks a special cultural moment: a rare opportunity for theaters, festivals, and cultural organizations to experience one of the most influential Mongolian ensembles live. Audiences will encounter an ancient musical tradition brought to life through Domog’s powerful and contemporary performance.
This European tour is organized by Altai (The Netherlands), a cultural initiative by Rowan and Saran Hartsuiker, dedicated to sharing Mongolian music and culture across Europe.
The tour includes both concerts and educational activities. During the concerts, Domog performs a selection of their most influential works, characterized by powerful throat singing, traditional instruments, and an energetic style.
In addition, workshops can be organized, offering participants an introduction to throat singing (khöömii), overtone singing, and traditional instruments within their cultural context.
With this approach, the tour aligns with Altai’s mission: not only to present Mongolian music, but to invite people to truly experience it. The tour will also be documented through photo and video, reaching an international audience.
